Rebuilt D-300 Transfer-case, 1980 – 1986: Against T-176, T-177, T-4, SR-4, T-5. We keep these in stock and ready to order.
These D-300 transfer-cases are professionally rebuilt and include at the minimum: New bearings, seals, gaskets, and faced surfaces sealed by high end silicone with iron coated in quality metal surface enamel. The shafts are checked to spec and replaced if needed. They will have either new or reconditioned yokes. Other options and upgrades for the Dana 300 are available as well, that we are happy to install for no or little additional labor. $1200, $500 Core Charge
We can also rebuild your existing D-300 transfer-case as per your specific instructions with any upgrades and kits specified.
We do have model 300 transfercases rebuilt with Tera-Low 4:1 gears. These D-300’s with have slight modifications that take extra time but allow for a much lower gearing than stock using the dana 300 4:1 low gears.
Please be aware and specify the length of your D-300 rear output housing, as there are two different lengths, the short 1980 version and the slightly longer 81-86 version
Spicer model 300 transfer-cases have a passenger-side front output and a centered rear output, unlike like previous Dana models, They do not have an output gear mounted to the transmission main shaft but a gear that rides on its own, bearing mounted input shaft. The rear output and intermediate gear shafts are the only real “weak points” and can be upgraded. Although they are still much stronger than their predecessors. The Scout version of the D-300 that was only built in 1980 has the same Texas pattern face and transmission mounted output gear as did the D-18/20 and can be very confusing, as it looks rather like a D-20.
